Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz today chaired the regular weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers, and urged the Arab World to continue soliciting local, regional and international support, both moral and material, for the Palestinian intifadah (uprising) until Israel is forced to comply with the United Nations resolutions. The cabinet, which is kept informed of all serious developments taking place in the Palestinian arena, was briefed on the outcome of the emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers in Cairo last week, and on the deteriorating situation in Palestine due to Israel's escalating rhythm of terrorism and oppression. King Fahd stressed the need to consolidate Arab and Islamic efforts in support of the Palestinians' just struggle against brutal Israeli attacks.

The cabinet was then briefed on governmental preparations for the new academic year that starts next Saturday [September 1]. In this respect, King Fahd wished all students, male and female, every success and urged teachers and university faculty to exert every effort to make the upcoming academic year another success for the students, their parents and the nation.
King Fahd also urged greater effort from the provinces' governors and councils to implement the State's development plans that aim at providing essential services throughout the Kingdom.
The cabinet then passed a number of resolutions, including approval of the re-formation, with a three-year mandate, of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Industrial Development Fund, effective upon publication.
