Hijackers of Russian plane to be tried in Kingdom

Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz today announced that the hijackers of the Russian plane will be tried before an Islamic Shariah court. In the incident earlier this year at Prince Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Airport in Madinah, hostages were rescued from the hijacked plane by special Saudi security forces. Prince Nayef declared that the investigation procedures have now been completed by the concerned authorities, and the hijackers will be tried in line with Article Seven of The Hague and Montreal agreements, which stipulate the right of the country to which any plane may be hijacked to try the hijackers on its territory. He added that they will receive a fair trial in line with the rules of Islamic Shariah implemented in the Kingdom.
