Saudi Arabia and Qatar implementing GCC Customs Union

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar have issued executive orders for implementation of the decision of the 20th session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) concerning setting up a customs union among its member states effective March, 2005. GCC Secretary-General Jameel Al-Hujeilan welcomed this initiative, and noted that State of Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, and the United Arab Emirates have issued similar orders.
