Media Praised For Coverage of 1420 Hajj

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Ibn Abdul Aziz has sent a cable of appreciation for the efforts exerted by the personnel of the Ministry of Information on coverage of the 1420 Hajj season, including assistance to Islamic information delegations from overseas.

Yesterday, Minister of Information Dr. Fuad Al-Farsi held a reception in honor of the international media that have been covering this year's Hajj. In his address on the occasion, he noted that press coverage of the Hajj season reflects the unity of the Muslim world, and pointed out that personal relations play a crucial role in developing and broadening the scope of the performance of the information process. This, he said, lessens dependence on foreign sources for obtaining news and data pertaining to the Islamic world.

Underscoring the importance of an Islamic vision on globalization, he spoke of the emergence of a new world order through the technological revolution that leads to a smoother flow of data and allows viewers to witness events instantaneously throughout the world. He went on to say Muslims must be aware of this, and confront these challenges in a scientific manner emanating from the principles and high values of Islam. Dr. Al-Farsi praised the role played in covering the 1420 Hajj by the Saudi information media, including the press, the foreign and domestic information desks, radio, television, and the Saudi Press Agency; and the supporting role of those involved in engineering and administrative affairs.
