Saudi Aramco film wins New York award

The film 'Land of Lavender' produced by the Kingdom's national oil company Saudi Aramco has won the silver award for 1999 in the New York festival of television and cinema works, competing with over 1,200 entries from 43 countries. The 26-minute animated film, a high tech artistic production presenting profound ideas in a simple and attractive manner, aims at spreading awareness among young people on environmental issues. The story line has a number of cartoon animals living in Saudi Arabia narrating how all living things interact and depend on each other. The film was first shown last November in Aramco's theater in Dhahran as part of the events associated with the Kingdom's annual environment awareness week.
