Kingdom participates in Human Rights conference in Geneva

In an address to the 56th session of the Commission on Human Rights in Geneva today, Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Foreign Ministry Prince Torki Muhammad Bin Saud Al-Kabeer said the Government of Saudi Arabia was ready to form an independent non-governmental national commission to help publicize and protect human rights; to set up a national government body with the mandate to look into all human rights issues; to establish human rights sections in government agencies to emphasize the vital need for compliance with human rights regulations and principles; and to adopt new regulations governing the legal profession and legal counseling.  Moreover, he declared, the Kingdom and the other member states of the Organization of the Islamic Conference are jointly seeking to promote the universality of human rights.
