Crown Prince Abdullah endorses school computer project

Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz today received Minister of Education Dr. Muhammad Al-Rasheed and endorsed the school computer project. Crown Prince Abdullah declared that the educational knowledge network, which is named after him, is "vital, and will serve our religion and our country now and in the future". He added: "Technology, computer science, and the Internet have spread very fast and we in the Kingdom should not lag behind in keeping pace with the development in modern sciences so that we can stand side by side with developed countries in the field of technology. Everyone needs to know about computer science in this age. Anyone who does not know how to deal with this modern tool is comparable to an illiterate who does not know how to read and write. Every student in this country should become conversant in the sciences of our contemporary age and should know how to deal with them." The project aims at introducing computers in all schools in the Kingdom as an educational tool, and linking them in an integrated network enabling the Ministry to be in touch with all its schools and education departments.
