The meeting began with discussion of a number of domestic issues, primarily the new economic, investment and tourism systems. King Fahd assured the cabinet that these new systems will have positive results for the State and for the citizens, as well as boosting development and expanding the base of the national economy.
Turning to the situation of the Middle East peace process, the cabinet reiterated that Israel alone is to blame for aggravating the incidents resulting from the delay arising from its intransigence.
The cabinet then passed a number of resolutions, including approval for the establishment of an Islamic institution, affiliated to the Islamic Development Bank, for private sector development; and the decision to award the Saudi Arabian Mining Company, 'Ma'aden' a concession to exploit crude magnesium in the area of Al-Ghazala in Hail Province.
