Embassy lecture on Hollywood image of Arabs

The Cultural Mission of the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Washington DC held a public lecture yesterday on the topic of the image of Arab people as presented by the Hollywood film industry in particular and U.S. culture in general. In his lecture, Dr. Salih Al-Aswad of King Saud University reviewed in detail the distorted image of Arabs that is presented in U.S. films, which contributes to furthering false stereotypes in American culture. He urged Arab media and Arab organizations in the United States to work towards removing this image from people's minds, and replacing it with a good Arab model presenting a true picture.
