The Joint Saudi Committee for Relief of Kosovo today signed a statement condemning the escalation of
violence in Kosovo. The statement, also signed by 78 NGOs operating there, stated that violent attacks
were continuously escalating, even one year after the return of civil society. This is causing many citizens
to live in fear while others are being forced to flee their homes as a result of the insecure environment.
The NGOs stated that their work was directed at all citizens without discrimination on the basis of race,
political affiliation or sex and strictly in line with human rights, based on the principles of international
laws and the global declaration of human rights. The statement called on civilian and military authorities
in Kosovo to take effective security procedures and develop a legal system to try violators of human
rights.
