International conference in Riyadh on rehabilitation

Governor of Riyadh Province Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz yesterday opened the Second International Rehabilitation Conference organized by the Handicapped Children's Society and the Prince Salman Center for Disability Research. The first such conference was held in 1992. Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, who is chairman of both these organizations, addressed the participants, stressing the importance of keeping abreast of advances in health care in general and services for the disabled in particular.

Speaking on the occasion, Prince Salman pointed out the many scientific inventions in recent years and called for coordination among the concerned parties to work out a strategy for rehabilitation. On display in the exhibition on the fringes of the conference was one of these inventions, an ATM machine for the blind provided by the Saudi American Bank. He wished the four-day conference success in reaching vital recommendations that would reflect positively on the quality and quantity of the services being rendered to the handicapped in the Kingdom.
