Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz today presided over the regular weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers. Declaring that the world in general is passing through a number of accelerated changes, he urged the Islamic world to adapt itself in accordance with religion and the interest of its peoples. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, he said, has always shouldered the support of Muslims, whether Islamic states or minorities, and stood by them in their causes.

The cabinet then reiterated concern about the sad developments in Chechnya as innocent people, including women, children and the elderly, are subjected to injury and displacement, and called on all parties to end this tragedy and resort to a peaceful solution so that the region is spared more bloodshed and suffering.
King Fahd went on to congratulate Abdulrahman Waheed on his election as President of the Republic of Indonesia, and wished him good health and happiness, and security and stability for his country.
Turning to domestic matters, the cabinet approved three agreements between Saudi Arabia and the People's Republic of China in various fields, authorizing the Minister of Education or his representative to sign the agreement on educational cooperation, and the Minister of Information or his representative those on broadcast media and on cooperation between the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) and the Chinese News Agency (Xinhua).
