'Aramco World' honors King Abdulaziz in special issue

The national oil company Saudi Aramco has published a special issue of its bi-monthly magazine 'Aramco World' commemorating the event that led to the founding of the modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia one hundred years ago according to the lunar Islamic calendar. The 110-page January/February 1999 edition is entirely devoted to the occasion, with articles on the personality of King Abdul Aziz, the recapture of Riyadh, and the expansion projects of the Two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madinah, as well as on the discovery of oil, traditional architecture in the Kingdom, and Saudi cuisine.
A feature of the issue is the collection of rare and beautiful photographs that are displayed, including some pictures of the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah that date back to the 19th century. There are also pictures of the vast expansion of the holy places that has taken place during the reign of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz.
