KACST Reports Progress On Long-Term Plan

In anticipation of the launching of the first five-year plan for science and technology at the beginning of 1420 H [April 17, 1999], the King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) has announced the completion of the first and second phases of a basic preparatory study for a comprehensive national plan for the next twenty years, up to 1440 H, that will be implemented by KACST in coordination with the Ministry of Planning. Concerned bodies in government and the private sector, educational institutions and centers of scientific research, are also participating. The first phase included a survey on the extent of utilization of computers, processing information from over 600 companies in Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah and the Eastern Province. The second phase comprised 18 detailed studies highlighting the future scope of science and technology in the Kingdom.
