Saudi Arabia Participates In Blindness Conference In Cairo

Chairman of the Middle East Region Bureau of the International Agency for Combating Blindness Prince Abdulaziz Ibn Ahmed Ibn Abdul Aziz arrived in Cairo today to participate in the Fifth International Conference of the Arab-African Council of Ophthalmology which starts tomorrow. On arrival, Prince Abdulaziz said the conference will cover the causes and prevention of blindness and discussion of international initiatives aimed at reducing the number of blind people by the year 2020. This number is currently estimated at around 50 million worldwide. About two thousand physicians from Arab and African countries will participate in the conference, which will be patronized by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.
