WTO Team In Riyadh For Talks

Minister of Commerce Osama Ibn Jaafar Faqih today received Canadian Ambassador John Wicks, who is chairman of the working team from the general assembly of the World Trade Organization (WTO) to follow up the current negotiations regarding the Kingdom's application to join the Organization. The team had earlier met with Minister of Industry and Electricity Dr. Hashim Yamani, who, speaking on the occasion, reiterated Saudi Arabia's concern to join WTO, saying this would have a positive impact on the industrial sector in the country, which has been steadily growing and establishing contacts and relations in the global market, with Saudi exports increasing at a rate of 14 percent in recent years. The team also met with Minister of Agriculture and Water Dr. Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz Ibn Mu'ammar.
