Umm Al-Qura University celebrates fifty years

Interior Minister Prince Nayef Bin Abdul Aziz yesterday patronized the celebrations organized by the Faculty of Shariah and Islamic Studies at Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its establishment.  Over 9,000 students have graduated from the University at all levels, undergraduate, masters, and doctorate.  Currently there aremore than 4,000 students with about 200 academic staff in 11 specializations, six of them undergraduate and five postgraduate, in addition to a Center for Islamic Studies. Speaking on the occasion, Prince Nayef remarked on the great respect earned by Saudi Arabia's  universities, which, he said, have made a positive contribution to the development of the society.
