Turning to the Middle East, Prince Sultan urged the world community and the United States of America in particular to put pressure on Israel to live up to all provisions of the UN resolutions and other related agreements, and realize a fair and comprehensive peace for all peoples of the region. Prince Sultan emphasized the importance of resuming negotiations from the point that had been reached before being suspended, in a way that realizes security and stability in the region and guarantees all rights of the countries concerned, on the principle of land for peace.
The cabinet then passed a number of domestic resolutions, including approval of the agreement between Saudi Arabia and the Regional Commission for the Conservation of the Environment of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, regarding the site of the commission's headquarters, and authorized the Second Deputy Prime Minister or his representative to sign it; and authorization for the Minister of Interior or his representative to discuss with the representative from the Republic of Chad a draft agreement between the two countries in the field of combating terrorism and the illegal drug trade.
