Minister of Finance and National Economy Dr. Ibrahim Al-Assaf arrived in Vienna today on an

official visit to Austria in response to an invitation from Austrian finance minister Dr.

Rudolf Edlinger. Dr. Al-Assaf said his talks with Austrian officials would focus on

developing trade exchanges, increasing the Kingdom's exports to Austria, and promoting

investments in Saudi Arabia.  The talks will also deal with the possibility of signing an

agreement to encourage and protect investments between the two countries, other agreements

to free the two sides from double-taxation, plus a review of technological cooperation

comprising training and scientific researches.  Dr. Al-Assaf will meet with Austrian

businessmen, exchange viewpoints and coordinate on international economic and finance

issues.
