Ambassador to the United Kingdom Dr. Ghazi Al-Gosaibi has congratulated the Japanese Ambassador to France Koichiro Matsuura on his election to the post of Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and wished him every success.

Ambassador Al-Gosaibi went on to thank Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz and all the other Arab and Islamic leaders and personalities who had bestowed confidence in him by selecting him as their candidate for the UNESCO post.  He declared that Saudi Arabia had nominated him not for national reasons, but in its desire to serve humanity, and noted that the Kingdom will continue its positive efforts within UNESCO to work for the welfare of all humankind.
