GCC information ministers meet in Kuwait

Information Minister Dr. Fuad Ibn Abdulsalaam Al-Farsi led the Saudi delegation to the ninth conference of information ministers of the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held today in Kuwait. In a joint communiqué, the ministers underlined the importance of enhancing the cooperation that exists among their ministries. The statement said the ministers issued a number of recommendations, including activation of cooperation in radio broadcasting. To this effect, the ministers agreed to hold a radio event within a planned GCC television production festival, and to hold training courses for national cadres. The ministers confirmed their support for joint TV production and for transmission of cultural, social, economic and arts activities. The statement said the ministers agreed to create a mechanism for holding overseas information weeks to present Gulf activities and cultures.
Meanwhile, Information Minister Dr. Fuad Ibn Abdulsalaam Al-Farsi yesterday in Kuwait chaired the 21st meeting of the executive council of the Islamic Broadcasting Organizations. In his address, Dr. Al-Farsi expressed the hope that the conference would yield positive results that would contribute to the solidarity and cooperation of the Islamic nations, citing the great challenges facing them at this time. He went on to highlight the role which the Islamic broadcasting organizations could play, and recalled the Islamic Summit in Tehran last year in this respect.
