Council of Ministes meeting

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Ibn Abdul Aziz today presided over the regular weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers and, referring to the ongoing Iraqi crisis, reiterated the stance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which is based on its concern to put an end to the suffering of the Iraqi people, and to safeguard the integrity of Iraq's territories.  The current crisis, he said, results from the reluctance of the Iraqi government to comply with the UN Security Council resolutions, especially those dealing with the tasks of UNSCOM.  King Fahd emphasized the necessity of this compliance, and the necessity of exhausting all diplomatic means to find an appropriate resolution of the current crisis.

King Fahd went on to underscore the necessity for Israel to adhere to all UN resolutions and the principle of land-for-peace in order to achieve a just and comprehensive solution to the Middle East peace process, obstacles to which are clearly due to the intransigence of Israel, which continues to attempt the judaization of Jerusalem by increasing settlements in violation of the rights of the Palestinian people.
The cabinet then reviewed the results of the visit to Cairo by Crown Prince Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National guard, and the complete agreement in the points of view of the two brotherly countries concerning international developments, especially the on-going crisis between Iraq and the United Nations.
