Iranian foreign minister in Kingdom for talks

Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal conferred here today with visiting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr Kamal Kharazi on bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual interest.  Speaking on the occasion, Prince Saud expressed satisfaction over the developing relations between the Kingdom and Iran, and pleasure at the recent visit of Iran's former president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, adding that in respect to the message sent by President Mohammad Khatami, he hoped that steps will continue in this direction.  Prince Saud went on to announce his intention to visit Iran after this year's Hajj season.

Referring to the Palestinian issue, Prince Saud reiterated that the Islamic world looks forward to a just, comprehensive and durable solution.  He also touched on Afghanistan, saying that everyone agonizes over the fact that after the struggle of the Afghan people against foreign occupation, and the great sacrifices they made, there was no improvement in their situation, but a regrettable civil war.  The Islamic world calls on the Afghan brothers to end this crisis.
