Arabian horse center renamed for King Abdulaziz

The Center for the Arabian Horse at Dirab has been renamed the King Abdulaziz Center for Purebred Arabians. This announcement was made last Wednesday at the closing ceremony of the Second National Show of Arabian Horses, by Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard, who is also Chairman of the Equestrian Club. In an address on the occasion, Crown Prince Abdullah remarked that such a name change is appropriate, with the approach of the centennial celebrations of the event that led to the founding of the Kingdom by King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al-Saud, who held a constant patronage of and interest in purebred Arabian horses. Agriculture Minister Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz binn Muammar also spoke on the occasion, saying that 103 purebred Arabians, bred in the Kingdom and registered with the international organization, were participating in the show this year.
