Information Minister Dr. Fuad Al-Farsi reported that the King then briefed the cabinet on the outcome of his meeting in Jeddah last week with Palestinian President Yasser Arafat and his accompanying delegation, reiterating the Kingdom's firm and permanent support for the Palestinian people and the National Authority and the realization of the establishment of their independent state on their national territory with restoration of all their legitimate rights in line with the United Nations resolutions.
The cabinet then reviewed a report presented by Interior Minister Prince Nayef Ibn Abdul Aziz, who is honorary president of the council of interior ministers of the League of Arab States, on the outcome of the conference of interior and justice ministers held recently in Cairo. The cabinet expressed satisfaction at the efforts exerted to reach and sign the agreement to combat terrorism, an agreement that will, with God's help, lead to cooperation among Arab countries to fight and eventually wipe out terrorism in all its forms.
Moving to domestic matters, the cabinet authorized the Interior Minister or his deputy to discuss with the Rumanian side a draft protocol on security cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Romania in the field of combating terrorism, fighting organized crime and controlling trade in illegal drugs. The cabinet further assigned the Minister of Foreign Affairs or his deputy to sign a draft agreement on economic, commercial, investment and technical cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of the Ukraine.
