Crown Prince Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard last night attended a reception in his honor in Abha, at which Governor of Asir Province Prince Khaled Al-Faisal gave a speech of welcome to the Crown Prince and expressed his pleasure and that of the people of Asir at his visit to the province.   He went on to highlight the comprehensive development in all fields which has taken place in the province over the last 25 years such as new roads and tunnels in the mountains, educational projects at all levels, and water desalination plants on the Red Sea, thanks to the concern of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Ibn Abdul Aziz.

Earlier, Crown Prince Abdullah patronized the opening ceremony of the system for water desalination, electric power and pipelines in Abha.   Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Agriculture and Water Dr. Abdullah Muammar remarked that the amount of water produced by the SWCC has increased within the last two decades more than 100 times while electric power generation has risen 700 percent, adding that the level of water production is currently at more than 2 million cubic meters a day while the generation of electricity is 3,300 megawatts.
