The Consultative Council (Majlis Al-Shura) returned today from summer recess, and held the

first working meeting of its new session, at which it was announced that the number of

specialized committees has been expanded to eleven. There are now committees for Islamic

affairs; organization and administration; education; culture and information; services and

public utilities; transportation and telecommunications; health and social affairs;

economic affairs; financial affairs; foreign affairs; and security.
