He went on to highlight the importance of the competitive aspects of industry, including product quality, new inventions, and industrial improvements. He cited the high efficiency of energy consumption by high-tech machinery that has led to reduction in the demand for oil on the one hand, and on the other, replacement of metal by plastic products. He urged the establishment of effective industrial research and technological systems in the Arabian Gulf region to enable competitiveness in a comprehensive world economy.
