King Fahd sends envoy to Tehran

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Ibn Abdul Aziz today sent Minister of State and Member of the Cabinet Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Khoweiter to Tehran with a message for President Hashemi Rafsanjani, who received Dr. Al-Khoweiter and expressed satisfaction over the development of Saudi/Iranian relations, adding that the current circumstances affecting Muslims in the Middle East and the Gulf Region require closer cooperation from all countries of the region, including Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  On his arrival in Tehran, Dr. Al-Khoweiter made a statement in which he expressed the Kingdom's desire to bolster political, economic and cultural ties with Iran, and announced that Saudi Arabia will take part at the highest level in the Islamic summit to be held in Tehran later this year, adding that it is to be hoped this summit will succeed in helping resolve the problems of the Islamic countries.

Crown Prince Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard, also sent a message to the Iranian President.
