Saudi soccer team wins Asian Cup for third time

In Riyadh today thousands of jubilant soccer fans welcomed the national team back from Abu Dhabi after winning the eleventh Asian Cup. The players, and Vice-Chairman of the Saudi Football Federation Prince Sultan Bin Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz, went straight to King Fahd International Stadium, where a televised reception was held in their honor. The Saudi team yesterday beat hosts United Arab Emirates 4-2 on penalties, after the final match ended goal-less with extra time. In accordance with the regulations, Saudi Arabia will keep the prestigious cup forever, since this is the third time the Saudi national team has won the Asian Cup, having won it in 1984 and in 1988.
