Within the framework of directives from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and in accordance with the custom of the late King Abdul Aziz, more than five thousand prisoners, one third of them foreigners, were released and pardoned during the month of Ramadan. Only those indicted on minor offenses were granted amnesty; serious offenders remain in custody.
