Saudi Arabia reports increase in exports

The General Statistics Bureau reports that during 1994 exports from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia amounted to SR 159,590 million (U.S. $ 42,557 million), a five percent increase over the year before. 

Mineral products accounted for SR 142,829 million (U.S. $ 38,088 million) of this total, while food products accounted for SR 1,430 million (U.S. $ 381 million).   Chemical products amounted to SR 7,878 million (U.S. $ 2,101 million) and plastics, SR 3,370 million (U.S. $ 899 million).   There were also re-exports, to the value of SR 1,312 million (U.S. $ 350 million). 


The ten major countries to which Saudi commodities were exported in 1994 were:

United States:  SR 29,518 million [U.S. $ 7,871 million]
Japan:             SR 25,470 million  [U.S. $ 6,792 million]
South Korea:  SR 12,999 million  [U.S. $ 3,466 million]
France:           SR   8,471 million  [U.S. $ 2,259 million]
Italy:               SR   8,142 million  [U.S. $ 2,171 million]
Singapore:      SR   7,735 million  [U.S. $ 2,063 million]
Netherlands:   SR   7,685 million  [U.S. $ 2,049 million]
Bahrain:          SR   5,017 million  [U.S. $ 1,338 million]
Brazil:             SR   4,911 million  [U.S. $ 1,310 million]
India:              SR   4,686 million  [U.S. $ 1,250 million]
