Prince Salman meets with U.S. Secretary of State Christopher

Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Riyadh Province, was received yesterday in Washington DC by U.S. Secretary of State Warren Christopher.   Also at the meeting were Prince Bandar Bin Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, the Saudi Ambassador to the United States, and Robert Pelletreau, Assistant Secretary of State for the Near East and South Asian Affairs.    Prince Salman, who is on a private visit to the States, remarked that contrary to what has been spread by some of the media concerning Saudi/U.S. relations, bilateral relations between the two countries, based on concrete common interests, remain very close, adding that officials of the two countries know that these ties will never be affected by such articles.   Regarding the explosion in Al-Khobar, he said the matter is now in the hands of the security authorities which will certainly uncover the facts, and cited the constant cooperation and coordination between the two countries. 

For his part, Mr. Pelletreau expressed his pleasure at the Prince’s visit, and said that the meeting with Mr. Christopher was a good opportunity for both sides to emphasize the depth of the friendly and close ties between the USA and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
