Saudi Arabia elected to UNESCO Council

During the recent elections held in Paris by the General Assembly of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was elected a member of the new Executive Council which will continue for the next four years.   The thirty-two member council is the main policy-making body of the 185-member Paris-based organization.   Saudi Minister of Education Dr. Muhammad Al-Rasheed expressed delight, saying that the Kingdom’s election reflects the high respect it enjoys in the international arena, and the good relations it has with the majority of UNESCO’s member countries.
