Explosion in parking lot in Riyadh
An official at the Saudi Ministry of Interior today issued the following statement:

“At approximately 11:30 a.m. this morning, an explosion occurred at a parking lot adjacent to a residential compound at Al-Thalatheen Street in Al-Olaya Quarter in Riyadh.   As a result, six people were killed and sixty others were injured.   Most of the injuries were minor.   Four of the dead were Americans, one Filipino, and the sixth victim could not yet be identified.

“The Security authorities have launched an investigation and collected samples from the site of the explosion which could help in identifying the perpetrators of this crime and the type of material used in the blast.

“The Ministry of Interior will disclose at a later time all the information and facts relating to the incident and wishes to reaffirm the importance of cooperation from citizens and other residents who have any information that could help expose the culprits of this incident which is alien to our environment, social values and religious beliefs.”
