Saudi Arabia has donated $44 million to support public school students in Lebanon.
The Kingdom’s contribution includes $20 million to pay the tuition fees for students in Lebanon’s public schools for the 2008-2009 school year, $20 million to cover the cost of textbooks, and $4 million for the Lebanese national commission to support public schools.
Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Dr. Abdulaziz Khoja handed over the Kingdom’s donation to Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora during a meeting in Beirut.
The donation is in line with Saudi Arabia’s ongoing aid to Lebanon. In 2006, the Kingdom made a similar donation to cover the tuition fees for Lebanese public school students.
Siniora is expected to visit Saudi Arabia tomorrow to perform the umrah.
